Source: "En España, el uso del éter se conoció a través de la prensa y en 1847 se inicia su utilización en la práctica clínica. El primer cirujano que realizó una intervención con este gas fue Diego de Argumosa y Obregón quien la llevó a cabo el 13 de Enero de 1847, en Madrid. En Barcelona, fue el cirujano Antonio Mendoza Rueda quien lo utilizó por primera vez el 16 de febrero de 1847. Posteriormente su uso se extendió a otras ciudades españolas." ([1])

Translation: "In Spain, the use of ether was made known through the press, and in 1847 began to be used in clinical practice. The first surgeon who performed a procedure using this gas was Diego de Argumosa y Obregón, on January 13, 1847 in Madrid. In Barcelona, it was surgeon Antonio Mendoza Rueda who used it for the first time on February 16, 1847. Subsequently, it began to be used in other Spanish cities."

Source: "La criada de la casa, Micaela García, declaró lo mismo que su ama, todo lo cual se puso en conocimiento del Excmo. Sr. secretario de Estado y del despacho de Gracia y Justicia, y se ofició al señor gobernador civil para que manifestase lo que habia ocurrido en el asunto, mandado que se renonociese á Sor Patrocinio por el profesor D. Diego de Argumosa, quien certificó haberla encontrado padeciendo una fuerte irritacion de estómago con espulsion de sangre por la boca y fiebre intensa." ([2])

Translation: "The housemaid, Micaela Gracía, said the same as her mistress, all of which was brought to the attention of His Excellency, Mr. Secretary of State and of the office of Grace and Justice, and the sheriff was authorized to find out what had happened in the matter. It was ordered that Sor Patrocinio be examined by Professor Diego de Argumosa, who certified that she was found to be suffering from severe stomach irritation with expulsion of bloody phlegm from her mouth and strong fever."

  • (Not a full review) The article is presently ineligible because a non-lead paragraph does not have an inline citation, per D2 of the DYK Supplementary guidelines. Sorry, but the seventh paragraph in the "Innovations” section has no citations, and content there, such as the subject authoring Resumen de Cirugía is not cited elsewhere in the article.   • This article is new enough and long enough. Approving ALT0 which has an inline citation, but not approving ALT1, which mentions three doctors, while the article does not, and the hook does not appear to be supported by the excerpt given below it. The image is in the public domain and the article is neutral. The foreign language sources make me unable to assess whether there are any copyright issues.
