Death of Orville Blackwood
- ... that Orville Blackwood died in 1991 at Broadmoor Hospital, where he was sent after using a toy gun to hold up a betting shop? Orville Blackwood was sent to Broadmoor Hospital in 1986 after he held up a betting shop with a toy gun. British Medical Journal: [1]
- Reviewed: Military reserve forces of Saint Helena
Created by Whispyhistory (talk), Edwardx (talk), and Philafrenzy (talk). Nominated by Whispyhistory (talk) at 18:41, 5 August 2021 (UTC).
- Article is long enough (9411 characters), new enough (created 29 July, nominated 5 August, though it's also a 5x expansion from 30 July onwards)
- Hook is short enough, interesting, in the article and well cited. For an article on someone's death, I think it's the best hook that can be found
- QPQ done
- Overall, this nomination passes, congratulations. Joseph2302 (talk) 17:15, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
- I think we can improve the hook. How about:
- ALT1:... that an inquiry into the death of Orville Blackwood at Broadmoor Hospital in 1991 found that admissions of black people to hospital were more likely to have police involvement? Philafrenzy (talk) 21:53, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
Alt1 needs a review. Kingsif (talk) 18:11, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
- My concern with the original hook is that his arrival at Broadmoor was at the end of long sequence events, not just because of the hold-up. The hook also suggests that using an imitation gun to carry out a robbery is a minor matter. It isn't and the courts don't regard it as such. Did his victims know it was a toy he had?
