Crystal Dynamics

Improved to Good Article status by IceWelder (talk). Self-nominated at 10:33, 14 November 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Crystal Dynamics; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation

QPQ: Unknown
Overall: new enough:14 Nov GA promotion & long enough: 18025 readable characters. Both primary hook and ALT1 have been verified (ALT is not as interesting to me as the primary hook, but adequate). Neutrally written; straightforward history and free of fancruft as far as I can see. Sourcing looks good with several sources per para & copyvio of those sources unlikely according to both GA review (AGF) and Earwig's copyvio detector (6.5% similarity). ☆ Bri (talk) 17:38, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

@IceWelder: I had a problem with the YouTube source for your primary hook, maybe you would consider this one instead: Who is Mark Cerny, the man behind PS5, Video Games Chronicle? ☆ Bri (talk) 16:48, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Bri: Very nice find! That absolutely works for me. I added the source and relevant extra information to the article. Regards, IceWelder [] 17:34, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
Great, marking this complete, assuming GF that you will follow up on the outstanding source question on your QPQ. ☆ Bri (talk) 17:37, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
Just noting that the requested followup on QPQ appears to be complete, and the QPQ review is signed off. Thank you. ☆ Bri (talk) 17:40, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
@IceWelder and Bri: I too would not accept the YouTube source based on WP:RSPYT so I appreciate that the reviewer has found a better source and it has been added to the article. My concern is the YouTube source is used for 21 citations in the article. I want to ask the GA reviewer @Shooterwalker: why they allowed the redlined source to be used so many times - I see that it was not mentioned in the review. The video was apparently made by Noclip which claims: WE MAKE DOCUMENTARIES ABOUT VIDEO GAMES. THEY ARE FREE TO WATCH ON YOUTUBE & 100% CROWDFUNDED Bruxton (talk) 16:34, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
@Bruxton: The video was indeed made by Noclip, which the Video games WikiProject widely considers reliable. Its founder and director, Danny O'Dwyer, is a journalist and video producer with years of professional experience. Moreover, the video mostly consists of interviews with people formerly involved with the company and does not draw information from thin air. YouTube is just the vessel here; per RSPYT:

Content uploaded from a verified official account, such as that of a news organization, may be treated as originating from the uploader and therefore inheriting their level of reliability.

@IceWelder: Thank you for the response. For my edification can you show me where the video game wikiproject has discussed the reliability of Noclip?
@IceWelder: Bruxton (talk) 16:58, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
See, for example, this discussion, plus it is frequently discussed at the Wikipedia Discord. IceWelder [] 17:02, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for that link. The discussion on the project was rather truncated but I recognize the comments of the handful of participants thought it was reliable. There will be other eyes on the nomination going forward so I will promote this hook and others will be able to refer to this discussion. I appreciate your efforts.
