Cathreim Thoirdhealbhaigh edit

  • The hook: the contrast between historical accuracy and banshees is great, a very alluring hook. But the work isn't widely known (unless that's just my ignorance), so I think it might want some framing. How about ... that the Irish 14th-century Cathreim Thoirdhealbhaigh, an account of the wars of Thomond, is noted for its historical accuracy but also for its vivid description of banshees? (Would also avoid the slightly paradoxical question "Did you know.. that it's known for".) Too heavy? Bishonen | talk 23:21, 14 May 2013 (UTC).
    • Hmm, that definitely has promise. How about something like ... that Cathreim Thoirdhealbhaigh, an account of the wars of Thomond in 14th13th-century Ireland, is noted for its historical accuracy and also its vivid descriptions of banshees? I'm trying to suggest the contrast rather than point it out directly, if you know what I mean. Writ Keeper  02:00, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
      • Right, good point. I worried a little about the way it's a 14th-century work, but the wars of Thomond were actually mainly in the 13th century (1194 to 1318). Perhaps it doesn't matter. Bishonen | talk 10:05, 15 May 2013 (UTC).
        • Well, I was thinking that a lot of the actual action in the book takes place around the end of the 13th and beginning of the 14th century, but 13th is probably a closer approximation. Writ Keeper  15:33, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Needs a full review now that the hook issues are settled. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:25, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
