Black armband protest edit

  • Reviewed: As this is my first DYK nomination, I am not required to review another article.

Created by Joseph2302 (talk). Self-nominated at 12:17, 27 June 2015 (UTC).

  • Article at 7627 characters of readable prose, so long enough. Moved from Draft to Main on 27 June and nominated for DYK the same day so new enough. No copyvio detected and article is well cited. QPQ not needed. Article is interesting and covers the event in depth. No picture. Hook is short enough and present both in lead and main text where it is cited. I would go with ALT 1 since it is shorter and a bit of a cliff hanger on what the armbands were about (hooks are there to draw the reader in). Good that it is mentioned in the text the the armbands actually were insulating tape, but since the protest has been labeled as an "armband protest" in the media this description is ok. Article is neutral as far as the quotes and the incident itself if concerned. However, there are a couple of words that should be replaced with more encyclopedic and neutral wording: "... was dumped by his girlfriend ..." and "... and slammed the ICC ...". Please find some other words (or expressions) than dumped and slammed. Best, w.carter-Talk 22:14, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
  • @W.carter: I changed "dumped" to "broke up with" and "slammed" to "criticised". Also, is a picture necessary? I haven't been able to find any free photos of the protest. Also, ALT1 is fine with me, I guess ALT0 gives too much information, making readers less likely to want to read the article. Joseph2302 (talk) 22:27, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
  • Thank you Joseph2302, much better. No, a picture is not necessary, not at all, it was just an observation from my side while checking the DYK-reviewing list. :) Article good to go. Well done! w.carter-Talk 22:35, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
