Battery Path

5x expanded by Bloom6132 (talk). Self nominated at 13:46, 8 March 2013 (UTC).

  • Length, 5x expansion verified by DYK check. Image is from Wikipedia Commons. All paragraphs have inline citations. Hook is supported by inline citation. ALT1 hook is fine. Original hook exceeds 200-character limit, but could be shortened as: 'that Battery Path (pictured) was once located on Hong Kong Island's waterfront with Victoria Harbour, but is now situated inland as a result of land reclamation'? Just need to decide which hook to use. NinaGreen (talk) 05:56, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Under the supplementary guidelines rule C8, the three three … and the "that" don't count towards the character count. Also, the unofficial E5 rule suggests that the "(pictured)" does not count, so excluding all three of these, the hook sneaks in slightly under at 199 characters. However, the hook you proposed sounds good, so I'll be willing to come to a compromise on that. —Bloom6132 (talk) 06:01, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
  • No need to compromise. If the original hook is under 200 characters according to the rules, then it's fine. Choose the hook you'd like, and the article will be good to go. NinaGreen (talk) 18:00, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
  • I think the final promoter of the DYK is the one who picks the hook. Other than that, is this DYK ready for a green tick? —Bloom6132 (talk) 18:04, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Good to go with whichever version of the hook the final promoter chooses (I gather the final promoter is the editor who moves the nomination forward to DYK on the Main page). NinaGreen (talk) 18:27, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Four characters are not going to destroy DYK, but just for the record, those four characters in "that" do count in the total allowed. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 00:08, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
