Maybe mention that, before genetic sequencing, this was the major molecular way to determine phylogenetic relationships? If that's true, of course. I just seem to recall that this is how they came up with the "chimps and humans differ by X percent" and "here's the real cladogram of birds" results, before we were sequencing whole organisms directly.
