Talk:Zonal spherical harmonics

This article is a bit of a mess in that key formulae have errors. The first and last set out equations are inconsistent!! There is a factor of 2$\ell+1 missing and a 4 pi missing in the first formula. I believe that in the formula for c_n,k, the numerator and denominator are reversed.

The article makes unstated assumptions that need to be made explicit

edit

Rotation "through a fixed axis" makes sense only in three dimensions, but no mention is made of three dimensions.

This article needs to state explicitly what its assumptions are instead of leaving them unmentioned.

BUT: Zonal harmonics apply to Euclidean spaces of all dimensions, so ideally the article would be extended to address this more general case of zonal harmonics in n-dimensional Euclidean space.

I hope that someone knowledgeable about the subject of this article will do exactly that. 2601:200:C000:1A0:ED93:4217:C5F:5449 (talk) 21:12, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
