Thoughts

Two thoughts on this article, other than the general need to expand it from its present stub status:

1. Shouldn't be moved to Zantedeschia?

2. Z. aethiopica isn't the only species. In fact, the pictures both appear to be of Z. elliottiana.

I'd move it to Zantedeschia as well (and move all genera to their generic name). Anyway, here's a couple of pics that I removed from the clutter in the Araceae page, for pasting in here if anyone is sure of the species. Imc 18:27, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

Internationalisation

I'm sorry I removed all of that indications about how to cultivate the plant, but they were completely useless for anyone living outside the USA and hardly suitable for an encyclopedia. Please, always provide a worldwide view, this is not Wikiedia, the free gardening guide for yankees! ;o) Aelwyn 20:03, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

The preferred approach is to add information relevant for other countries, not to delete information that is incomplete (otherwise we'd have to delete most WP articles!) Stan 23:42, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I only wanted to focus that USA zone 1 or something like that means nothing outside the USA, it would be much more useful if it was changed to a general indication such as warm and rainy climate or so. Sorry if I was a bit rude, I apologise. Aelwyn 07:14, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree that this article needs work and that the section on hardiness could be far better, but I've reverted the article to the original text for a couple of reasons. First, if the information is incomplete or regional but otherwise accurate, it's far preferable to improve the article by adding or expanding information than by deleting information. Second, the USDA hardiness zone system has been adopted outside the USA, and virtually identical systems have been devised for Canada, the UK, Europe, and even China. I hope now it is ok. I shouldn't have delated it, I'm sorry, I've tried to improve it but I'm not sure of what I have written. I was unable to understand the meaning before reading the aricle about Hardiness zones, I think it was unnecessarily technical and (this was parly wrong) regional. Let me know if it is allright. Looks fine, I did some copyediting, others can add back additional information if needed. It's such a popular garden plant, although a pest in my feeling, if you've ever had it where you didn't want it, that it would be appropriate to add more international information. Possible Error

The page states that there are 28 species in this genus, but the book by Deni Bown on Aroids states that there are only 8 species. I wasn't sure which of the two was correct. If the person who edited this article to show 28 species thinks that 28 is incorrect please replace it with 8.-Chhe 17:25, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
