Etymology of Zanjan

Does anyone have any information as to the etymology of Zanjān? I was wondering in particular if there is any connection to the Zanj Rebellion?

Move to "Zanjan"

I can't see why the name of this article is "Zanjan, Iran" when there is no other settlement with the same name. Salazar the terrible (talk) 08:59, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
