Zak Ibsen, also known as Ibby, DJ Ibby, Zak Attack, was born on June 2, 1972 in Santa Clara, CA. During his six seasons in Major League Soccer, Ibsen won the MLS Cup and U.S. Open Cup with the Chicago Fire <http://www.chicago-fire.com>, during their inaugural season (1998). Ibsen also won the CONCACAF Champions League as a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2001 <http://www.lagalaxy.com>. After being traded to the San Jose Earthquakes during the same year (2001), Zak Ibsen would go on to win his 2nd MLS Cup (2001) <http://www.sjearthquakes.com>, as the San Jose Earthquakes engineered a worst-to-first turnaround and defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy in the final at Columbus Crew Stadium <http://www.mlssoccer.com>.

Zak Ibsen also played professionally in Germany for Vfl Bochum, 1.F.C. Saarbruecken, and Rot-Weiss Erfurt (1993-94), and spent several months on trial in Argentina at Newell's Old Boys and Colon de Santa Fe (1995).

Youth and college

Zak Ibsen was a member of 1.F.C. Koln's (German Bundesliga) youth team in 1989-90 <www.fc-koeln.de/en/homepage/>. Zak Ibsen won the McGwire Cup Under 19 National Championship as a member of the North Huntington Beach Untouchables in 1991 <www.nhbfutbol.com/>. Ibsen scored 4 goals in the championship game, and was named MVP. This Club Soccer national championship came on the heels of winning the NCAA National Championship as a Freshman at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1990 <http://www.uclabruins.com/ViewArticle.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=30500&ATCLID=207874125>. Zak Ibsen also represented the USA Under 20 National Team with one appearance during the summer of 1990.

Zak Ibsen graduated from UCLA in 2000, with a BA in Political Science.

Early career

MLS

Zak was the 26th pick in the 1996 MLS Supplemental Draft by the New England Revolution <http://www.revolutionsoccer.net>. He played six games, then was traded to the Dallas Burn for John Kerr, Jr. on June 26, 1996 <http://www.fcdallas.com>. Ibsen played out the year with Dallas before announcing his retirement on February 1, 1997, to sign a contract with the USA Beach Soccer National Team on a year-long world tour. Zak also played for the California Jaguars of the USISL A-League, when the USA Beach Soccer Team was inactive. At the conclusion of the USA Beach Soccer National Team World Tour, Zak returned to MLS, negotiating a trade from the Dallas Burn (who owned his rights) to the Chicago Fire, where he made 27 regular-season appearances. On February 18, 1999, the Fire traded Ibsen to the Los Angeles Galaxy for a second-round choice in the 2001 MLS SuperDraft. After 2 successful seasons with the Galaxy, Ibsen was traded to the San Jose Earthquakes on February 4, 2001. During his six years in MLS, Ibsen played for 5 teams, won 2 MLS Cup Championships (CH Fire 1998 & S.J. Earthquakes (2001), 1 U.S. Open Cup Championship (CH Fire (1998), and 1 CONCACAF Champions League Championship (LA Galaxy 2001). Ibsen was placed on waivers following the 2002 season and decided to retire from MLS.

National teams

Ibsen entered the national team program with the United States U-20 men's national soccer team in 1990. That year, the team finished third in regional qualification for the 1991 FIFA World Youth Championship. As a result, it did not qualify for the championship. In 1991, Ibsen joined the U-23 national team which qualified for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. The U.S. finished 1-1-1 in the first round of the tournament and did not qualify for the second round.

Ibsen earned 14 Caps with the U.S.A. Senior National Team: vs. Costa Rica, El Salvador, Brazil, Spain, Republic of Ireland, China, Scotland, Australia, Morocco, Uruguay, Peru, Belgium, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago

Zak Ibsen played for the USA National Beach Soccer team from 1993-2013, and finished his international beach soccer playing career as captain of the USA Beach Soccer National Team. Ibsen was named Best Player at the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying tournament in 2007 <http://www.beachsoccer.com>, and led the US team in scoring at several Beach Soccer World Championships and international tournaments.

I recently submitted an edit to a page titled, 'Zak Ibsen'. This page contains erroneous biographical information and significant omissions. It is important that a page labeled with my name, Zak Ibsen, be accurate and complete with regards to my career and major life events as defined by the personal information template. Please make the changes and replace the previous content with the factual and verifiable version, including the list of references which can be used to corroborate content. I believe this to be accurate and objective, and am open to further edit if my version falls outside the parameters of acceptable use (by Wikipedia). Thank you for your attention to the matter.

@Zak Ibsen: There is nothing on the pages that you link to that supports the claims made- the links just go to the home page where there is nothing about Ibsen. you will need to link to a page that actually verifies the claim. for example, if you want a sentence that says "Ibsen played for XTEAM from YYYY-ZZZZ". you will need to link to a page that actually says "these are the dates Ibsen was a member of XTEAM: recruited YYYY, traded ZZZZ" and not just "This is XTEAM's page".-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 01:06, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Edit Requests

The subject of this article edited this article extensively until he was warned about the conflict of interest policy. He then posted a lengthy edit request providing his preferred version of the article. Providing a full-length version of the preferred version (but without references) of the article is better than editing the article, but it is not much better. In his second edit request, he stated that there are significant errors and omissions in the article. In accordance with the biographies of living persons policy, the uninvolved volunteer editors of Wikipedia can address errors more readily than we can address "omissions". Challenged information can be deleted, but "omissions" can only be included when the information is attributed to reliable sources. I see now that the article has been drastically trimmed and is down to a stub. It needs to be built back up, but only with information from reliable sources. Thanks to all for your quality information about Wikipedia editing procedures, etc. I humbly request the page be removed or updated with the information provided. I am not interested in having my story told in my own words, but am concerned that the information contained in a page titled with my name is accurate. There is no more reliable source than the actual person whose name is listed as the (biographical) subject. I have also provided reliable sources where each statistic can be verified. I am certainly new to the open-source editing process, but would like to have an accurate reflection of my career, etc. as I plan to be interviewing for jobs, and would like a public search of my name to coincide with the content of my actual resume, etc. Please excuse me if I am out of line in making this request, but the misinformation on this page was brought to my attention by a potential future employer. Thank you for your time discussing this personal matter, and again my apologies if my inexperience has led to any wasted time and energy on your behalf.

Actually, people are notoriously among the least reliable sources for information about themselves, for obvious reasons. We are not a resume service, and our interest in reliably sourced facts and an impartial presentation of them, may very well in fact conflict with your obvious interest in bettering yourself by controlling information about yourself. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:59, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Zak, can you please write down exactly which fragments/segments of the article in its current state are, in your opinion, contentious and/or factually incorrect. As User:Orangemike wrote, "we are not a resume service", and most of us are volunteers. We can and will remove contentious material. As for adding material, we generally only do so if the statements are reliably sourced. If you want content to be added, you will need to include with your edit request a link to a reliable source that verifies the claims. As it has been more than a month since the last comment regarding this COI edit request, I'm closing the request. Please open a new request if you would like changes to be made to the article.
