Celtel merge edit

I don't think it should be merged as Celtel is a strong brand in 14 African Countries and even Zain Group is not Changing the name.

Agree. --Dima1 08:02, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Me too, Celtel is extremely important in mobile communications in Africa. For this, I'll remove the merge tag.--Aldux (talk) 16:03, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Zain Sultan's wealth edit

Somebody has put a sentence about Zain Sultan being a wealthy man etc. It does not belong here, so I deleted it.Hamdan2 (talk) 08:03, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

I think it's a full-blown ad. I would ask for a complete rewrite or deletion. TKhaldi (talk) 20:19, 30 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Most of what is here is from the corporate website and needs to be cut. Commercial product descriptions in particular do not belong. Blue Rasberry 14:06, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Bharti Airtel takeover edit

An editor has been changing the numbers to reflect the takeover announced today. I believe this is premature and have reverted. The change isn't happening until October (http://www.zawya.com/zain/story.cfm/sidZW20100608000118) so I think it's prudent to wait for things to develop before we change the figures, especially since Zain has not yet changed its website which is used to support the figures in the article. Actually if you check this website "http://www.africa.zain.com/splash/" it cleary states that Airtel has completed the takeover and is infact running the Africa operations at the moment. Zains own website now lists its commercial presence as only being in 8 countries due to the takeover. The Zain name is only being used interimly did the brand name is officially changed. So the change is appropriate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.98.172.94 (talk) 12:39, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the purchase is complete but as the link above makes clear, the Zain branding remains for some time yet. Harry the Dog WOOF 13:18, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Zain's Zap service is now rebranded Airtel Money. So that section was deleted from the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mushroom9 (talkcontribs) 13:27, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Zain Jordan Merge edit

There is a very old merge tag on Zain Jordan suggesting a merge with Zain. I don't know the topic, so other people need to discuss it. Begin below: D O N D E groovily Talk to me 05:20, 11 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Redirected to Zain. Apart from a single sentence the article was about this article. AIRcorn (talk) 04:47, 28 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reverted Article edit

I reverted back to an earlier version (1 October) before an editor added promotional material to the article. I have gone through and removed most of the remaining promotional material. It is still self referencing and still makes some claims (e.g., 'world’s first, borderless mobile service') that need secondary sources. AIRcorn (talk) 06:16, 28 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Zain as a generic name edit

I have noticed in correspondence from the Democratic Republic of Congo that is current practice to refer to a mobile/cell as a "ZAIN". Is this worth mentioning in the article? Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 23:26, 23 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

– I do not see this topic being the primary topic per WP:WORLDWIDE. I recommend moving this article to either Zain (company) or Zain Group, depending on what its WP:COMMONNAME is, since I cannot determine myself which one that would be at the present time. --Relisted.
