Unsourced material removed edit

I have removed some unsourced material added by an IP editor. I am pasting it below, as some of the information, with proper citation, and correction for spelling, style and grammar, could form part of an expanded version of this article.

Material restored and sources added edit

I have restored the removed material and added sources to verify it. As I am new to Wiki and my language is german maybe somebody can correct citation, spelling, style and grammar to expand article in quality. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.47.253.92 (talk) 09:57, 3 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have copy edited the article for style, spelling and grammar, and incorporated some of this material. Some of it I have had to remove as follows:

  • 2-times winner of Quelle Challenge Roth
    • true, she won it in 2007 and 2008 - duly incorporated into the article
  • started up the female Sub9-hour series in 2007 when she clocked a 8:51:55 at her Ironman-distance debut in Roth 2007
    • not true, there are many women who have gone sub-9, beginning with Thea Sybesma in 1991 (8:55:29)- but I have used the reference to the 8:51:55 time.
  • broke Paula Newby Fraser´s 14 year old all-time-record in wet and cold conditions setting a 8:45:48 at Quelle Challenge Roth in 2008
    • true, but duplicates information already in the article. I have added the source supplied as an additional citation.
  • the only female athlete in history that did hold the world´s best over the Ironman 70.3-distance (4:07:29 Ironman 70.3 Antwerp ´06) and the Ironman-distance (8:45:48 Challenge Roth ´08)
    • not true, the source cited does not mention a "world best" time for the women (but it does mention a world best time for the wheelchair athletes). Removed.
  • with a 2:54:22 (Roth ´08) holds the all-time female marathon-record in an Ironman-distance
    • not true: according to the source cited, the current record is 2:52:46 by Nicole Leder (Roth, 2004).
    • updated: the new version reads: with a 2:54:22 (Roth ´08) holds the 2nd all-time female marathon-time in an Ironman-distance
      • this might possibly be true, but the source cited refers only to Roth, not to the "all-time" record. I've altered it accordingly.
  • with three sub-9-hour Ironman-distance-results belongs to a small group that holds more than than two Sub9-finishes along[sic] Paula Newby-Fraser (4),Chrissie Wellington (4),Lori Bowden (3)
    • this factoid, while currently true, is rapidly going to become out of date. It would have to be updated every time one of these athletes records another sub-9, or new athletes record 3 or more sub-9s. Best to leave it out to avoid an inaccurate article by default. Given the level of improvement in women's triathlon, sub-9s in future are going to become routine on the faster courses.

Note that paragraphs or sections headed "facts about" are very bad style, and also immediately arouse suspicions about the accuracy of the "facts" stated. Hence removed.

Again I have restored the "facts". Probably there is a conflict in interest as user NSH001 looks like the "personal" Wiki of some other successful triathletes. See my facts on the facts below. As Wiki is an open source it should be the freedom to everybody according to the guiding rules to update and expand informations on an athletes, person, etc. NSH001 cuts back these informations and allows nothing else than one opinion about a topic that numerous people know about.

Yvonne van Vlerken (born 5 May 1978) is a Dutch triathlete and duathlete who in 2008 set the world record for ironman-distance triathlon races. > wrong: van Vlerken was born on NOVEMBER 5 1978!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.117.19.157 (talk) 14:28, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

> Sub9-hour series in 2007: from 1991 to 2004 there were 16 Sub 9. From van Vlerken´s 8:51:55 in Roth 2007 on 21 (!!!) were recorded in three years (2007-2009). That is meant with series....!

  • broke Paula Newby Fraser´s 14 year old all-time-record in wet and cold conditions setting a 8:45:48 at Quelle Challenge Roth in 2008
    • true, but duplicates information already in the article. I have added the source supplied as an additional citation.

> True, the 70.3 record was broken by Mirinda Carfrae in 2007 in Clearwater, a false information cited that Natascha Badmann broke the existing record in July 2007 with a 4:08:18, but that was slower than van Vlerken´s time in Antwerp.

  • with a 2:54:22 (Roth ´08) holds the all-time female marathon-record in an Ironman-distance
    • not true: according to the source cited, the current record is 2:52:46 by Nicole Leder (Roth, 2004).

> The Roth list shows the all-time records in the run-times. No men ran ever faster than 2:36, no woman faster than 2:52, fourth is Sandra Wallenhorst´s at IM Austria ´07 with 2:54:45)

> the results are updated, no worries. And also this factoid. There are more facts like that on Wiki that ask for permanent service.

Mario Huys was back as van Vlerken´s coach in July 2009. Mark Allen is the consultant of Yvonne van Vlerken and belongs to the coaching team.
