Change picture

I think we should change the picture of Suga. He is standing behind an American flag, which seems to suggest American dominance over Japan and might lead to unfortunate implications. There are plenty of other Suga pictures out there which don't carry that kind of baggage. Mail Seird (talk) 16:18, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Photo?

Is the current photo in the infobox photoshopped? It looks exactly the same as the other photo on the Commons except it looks like the US flag has been shopped out of the background. I'm not an expert on Wikipedia rules but surely adding photoshopped images to infoboxes is not appropriate? This guy is about to become one of the world's leading heads of state so we should get a consensus on a good photo for him. Basil the Bat Lord (talk) 11:52, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

I haven't found a wikipedia policy on infobox images, but I agree that a different image not touched by Photoshop should be used. Did you find a better image on wikimedia commons?Manabimasu (talk) 03:37, 16 September 2020 (UTC)

@Manabimasu Not really, could maybe use this crop: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Reiwa_20190401am_(cropped).jpg or crop this one though: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:27jirei01.jpg But I'm assuming that he'll have an official portrait released once he's inaugurated as Prime Minister so maybe we won't have to wait too long. I made a new crop that I attached, what do you think? --Rockin 02:12, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

The Kantei published a pretty good photo from last night's press conference, I ended up using a crop of that. Kinda surprised we haven't gotten an official portrait photo yet. Basil the Bat Lord (talk) 05:06, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
The photo you posted is a good one. In the alternative, there is a photo that is listed on the Japanese Prime Minster's official webpage that could also be used. https://japan.kantei.go.jp/97_abe/meibo/daijin/suga_yoshihide.html or https://japan.kantei.go.jp/99_suga/actions/202009/_00003.html Jurisdicta (talk) 00:57, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
The link to his profile is this link is what I preferred. I think the Japanese government photo for Shinzo Abe was used.Manabimasu (talk) 18:38, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

@Goszei: For now, that’s the photo on the Japanese government website of his page. It can be changed but that’s up to the source.Manabimasu (talk) 17:10, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

@Manabimasu: It's an "official photo", but not an "official portrait". There's no way his mouth would be open in an official portrait (which are usually taken yearly, have a seated subject looking at the camera, etc.). See the articles for the previous five PM's of Japan for examples. — Goszei (talk) 18:48, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
@Goszei: As I said, I wished his mouth wasn’t open. But that’s the photo on the site or the source. As an editor, I would like for the source to change the photo. We could wait for the better photo from the government. I think you could start an rfc as we both disagree on photo.Manabimasu (talk) 18:50, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
@Manabimasu: I have no opinion on the photo, just the caption. — Goszei (talk) 18:50, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
@Goszei: The caption doesn’t have a source. Look into the photo’s source and see if there’s a caption. If not, maybe up to the editor.Manabimasu (talk) 18:57, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Should his meeting with Scott Morrison be discussed in the article?

It was his first meeting with another world leader on Japanese soil[1][2], so it might be worth mentioning but I'm not sure. Geminin667 (talk) 00:38, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
