Yojan

There is a mistake. 'Yojana' is a plan, a completely different word from 'Yojan', which was an unit for distance measurement. The transliteration WP uses for Sanskrit lends itself easily to these mistakes unless the speakers know Sanskrit. Firstly, you're confusing Sanskrit and Hindi. Secondly, you're confusing Yojana (योजन, IPA roughly: /joːɟɐn̪ɐ/) with yojanā (योजना, IPA roughly: joːɟɐn̪ɑː). The vowel attached to the final 'n' in "Yojana" is the same as the one attached to the 'j' — it's the short 'a', not the long 'a' in Hindi yojanā. That Hindi for some reason pronounces other short vowels at the end of words, but omits pronouncing the vowel when it's 'a', is an idiosyncrasy of Hindi and irrelevant here. Vishnu Purana

I have changed the title of the section from Yojana as per Vishnu Purana to "Hindu units of length". Orders of magnitude of length is not mentioned in Vishnu Purana. The cited quotation is a footnote from H. H. Wilson's translation of Vishnu Purana. It is likely from the Markandeya Purana as it is mentioned in the footnotes of Wilson's translation work.. I have checked multiple versions of Vishnu Purana and verified that it does not exist in Vishnu Purana. I will check Markandeya Purana and make changes. I dont know whose genius idea was it to define the amplitude of cow's call between 52-79 dB. The cited paper is about the measured dB value of of cow's call from close proximity of an abattoir facility. Anyone with common sense would know that the dB level of an animal's call will weaken as we move away from the animal. There is no standard value for the dB level of cow's call. It is an arbitrary measure. Moreover, two of the cited sources are about speed of the sound, which is a concept entirely different from the acoustic pressure measured by dB.

False calculation!

According to Rigveda 1.123.8 the earth rotates 30 yojanas (hours)/day. That means 12°/h or round about 1336 km per hour at the equator. The rounded up number of 1336 km (exact 1335,8339) makes it possible, to get whole numbers for the units Kroca (= 334 km), Gavyuthi (= 167 km), Danda (= 167 m) and Hasta (= 41,75 m). This duration of 30 h (yojanas)/day change according to the indian scriptures in the great flood which ended the Tretayuga and the Chakchusha Manvantara and according to Berossos took place about 33.500 BC. This change is depicted in the indian scriptures as the "churning of the milkocean" which was already declared by B.G.
