Merging Yilan line, North-link line, Taitung line edit

I noticed that the West Coast line (Taiwan) was a merger of three different sections of the Coastal Line and Taiwan Trunk Line (North and South) because they are considered as one line in an annual report in 2015. The Yilan line, North-link line, Taitung line combined is considered to be the eastern counterpart. As seen in this statistics report/page that is archived here[[1]], the TRA had grouped the lines as one entity. By using the logic for the merger that resulted in the West Coast line article, shouldn't these lines be merged into one so that it is "easier to maintain just one article"?

I propose either that these lines to be merged into a "East Coast line" or something similar or the West Coast line article to be split back into its constituent articles (while leaving the West Coast line as a small article mentioning and referencing its constituents).

The classification of TRA lines is quite inconsistent, but I now think the most appropriate reference is the official API. It is what is used by the official site and apps. Under this system, Badu–Taitung is known as "Eastern Trunk line". Ythlev (talk) 05:51, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the input. Would you consider merging the line from Badu to Taitung into one line under the name of "Eastern Trunk line"? This might be off-topic but would it be appropriate to change the name of the West Coast line (Taiwan) to "Western Trunk line" and include sections about the Coast line and the Mountain line (Taichung line)? I do notice that they list a Western Trunk line and Western Trunk line (Coast line) in the API that you linked. @Ythlev: Harrison Kuo (talk) 07:07, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Ythlev and Harrison Kuo: Just a heads-up: TRA Eastern Line already exists, so for attribution purposes it would be best to move that one to Eastern Trunk Line.   Ganbaruby!  (Say hi!) 13:26, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
