Which war?
editI've long imagined Jeff Christie was thinking of the American Civil War, not the Vietnam War. Cumbre (talk) 14:06, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, the unsourced, circuitous statement that the song's "connotation is obviously oriented toward a soldier happily leaving the US Military during the Viet Nam War" overlooks the fact that, unlike the war described in the lyrics, the Vietnam War had not been "won." In any case, it's unsourced, and may not be "obvious" to anyone beside the Wikipedia contributor who wrote it. Relgif (talk) 13:41, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
REALEASE DATE
editIt really surprises me to read that "Yellow river" was released on April 1970. It was a #1 hit in my country, Costa Rica (Central America), for two weeks. I'm sure it held the #1 position in the last week of 1969 and the first week of 1970. It would be very, very difficult it was being played in our local radio stations without being released in the UK or the USA! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.202.204.20 (talk) 17:08, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Ketelby!
editJust removed an unsourced claim that the first 4 bars are near identical the the main melody of Albert Ketelby's In a Persian Market. When I hummed the two tunes, I agreed. Perhaps there's a source. I'll look. Tapered (talk) 03:29, 23 September 2018 (UTC)
