"Yele may turn out to be an Austronesian language."
This seems to be a fringe theory propagated by Timothy Usher (a devotee of the "Indo-Pacific" theory.) I can find no mention of it in reputable sources like Levinson's grammar, and I see that no citation at all is provided. (I would have been very interested to see one!) According to the Yele article, he thinks the language is actually specifically Oceanic, which is even less plausible.
Yélî Dnye as actually just about as an unlikely candidate for membership of Austronesian as can well be imagined. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.171.244.168 (talk) 02:22, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
