Major changes

edit

In my opinion this bike deserves a little attention, that's why I have decided to add some info. Here are changes that I made: >Added more sections talking about engine, carburetion, modifications etc. >Took out one not working link and added one that provides articles >I have not deleted any original information, just rearranged and added.

There is still a lot to cover, but I hope that this addition will benefit this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pwiszowaty (talkcontribs) 01:49, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Models

edit

This page has some info about other XS models (750 & 1100). Should there be a generic XS page, and then seperate 650, 750 & 1100 pages? Or since the difference (I think) between the models is the engine size, should they all be listed on one yamaha XS page? Further, should years be include (as seperate pages), or is this too much info? (too much info, this is wikipedia, that is almost impossible. if anything this page is a little underwritten -AD) Athgorn 00:49, 21 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

The XS650 (aka TX650 for a year or two) motor is entirely unique and has nothing in common with any other Yamaha models. Therefore I think it best to allow it's own page. Jens Zastrow

-well, the service manual includes the xs650 and tx 650 in one book, so makbe they would go "ok" together. If you have enough information about the tx650, go fo the edit, if not, leave it as is. I only know about my 1975 xs 650, so I leave it to the next person for the TX models. -AD

Formal language....

edit

I hardly think that "If you have one of these, I'm very, very sorry" is appropriate wording for an encyclopedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.63.46.71 (talk) 15:34, 13 December 2006 (UTC).Reply

The tone of the introduction requires inspection. Does "backwards center stand drag racing" also seem appropriate for an encyclopedia?

Absolutely! I was so refreshed to see something that most people would read over with a question mark. That is a patently true statement. My friends and I have center stand races regularly. It's and XS650 phenomenon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.246.109.177 (talk) 16:28, 3 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • I've deleted the part about vibrating off the center stand and the center stand drag racing, whatever that means. Can you cite any sources saying that? See also Wikipedia:No original research -- unfortunately we can't include our personal experiences. We have to find reliable sources to support anything we say in an article..--Dbratland (talk) 18:48, 3 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Anybody there?

edit

Hi, we would like to see our link from http://650WIKI.ORG in the Wikipedia. But currently there is no option to add any links..

If anybody could assist or put it in - the 650WIKI.ORG is the Wiki for the Yamaha XS650 - it would be great.

Thank you! herb langhans unix.01 -AT- langhans.com.pl — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.205.221.115 (talk) 08:08, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

That is not going to happen. See WP:ELNO. --Biker Biker (talk) 09:25, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Please submit the link to the Open Directory Project. Go to http://www.dmoz.org/ and read the instructions at Suggest URL. You probably want to go to the category : Recreation : Motorcycles : Makes and Models : Yamaha and submit it there. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 17:09, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
