unverified claims?

If the origin of the garment is unknown, how is it there is evidence that show it is or isn't from China? If it has been proven by scholars that it did not come from China, then please site the reference material that verifies this. Making sweeping statements about its origins without reference/or references that has nothing to do with the Vietnamese origins of the garment isn't helping. If you read the source and do some research on Dudou, it only appears since the Qing dynasty (near modern time) whereas Vietnamese yếm had existed since ancient time. Furthermore, this garment is often associated with peasant women in Vietnam so the chance that they picked up something from Qing dynasty China is low. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.187.179.143 (talk) 06:47, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

a. None of the current sources are terribly authoritative. b. Which one did you have in mind? c. The chance that any given aspect of traditional Viet peasant culture came from China or was glossed in existing records in Sinicized terms is exceedingly high, not "low". d. "Ancient" in both Vietnam and China is a lousy translation of words that are used to simply refer to pre-colonial or pre-revolutionary eras. "Ancient" is used to describe Vietnam in bad sources (as these are) all the way up to the French conquest; it's used in Chinese sources all the way into the 20th century. — LlywelynII 15:42, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Just to be clear

The page is here because the Vietnamese project passed a LOCALCONSENSUS that everything should be rendered in tones. This is not the garment's actual COMMON ENGLISH name and, even if the page is kept here as a NATURALDAB, the article shouldn't lead with the tonal Vietnamese form or treat it as though it were actually English. — LlywelynII 15:42, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Reason why I delete some parts in the article

This article had been manipulated by a sock puppet name Rajmaan and their bot Milktaco who owned by a Chinese lives in Singapore and they keep spreading nonstoppable hoaxes.
