Talk:Xerxes

The last link of the disambiguation refers to an audiophile record player, but it just points to the Xerxes System Shock 2 page. I tried browsing all articles to find the Xerxes record player to correct the link, but could not.

Does anyone with better search know-how feel like discovering if this article might exist?

Is there a way to ban 206.130.211.35 from making further (vandalisation) edits ?

As Xerxes I of Persia, aka Xerxes the Great, is by some way the best known person of this name, on account of his role in the Persian invasion of Greece, should he be treated as the primary meaning of this name? PatGallacher (talk) 17:20, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

XerxesXerxes (disambiguation) — This enables us to treat Xerxes I of Persia as the primary meaning of "Xerxes", he is clearly the best known person of this name. PatGallacher (talk) 22:53, 28 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Support Xerxes, the invader of Ancient Greece, is simply famous and in a casual conversation about 'Xerxes' we are speaking about him and none other. It could be compared to Julius Caesar (there are more than one but the most famous one overshadows the others). I also support a move of the current 'Xerxes I of Persia'-article towards 'Xerxes'. • Support per nom. The Xerxes in question is definitely the primary meaning of the term. However, I would keep the main article at his full title (Xerxes I of Persia) - we just need to have Xerxes as a redirect to that article, rather than the dab page. • Conditional Support
Support only:
  1. if the article Xerxes I of Persia remains where it is
  2. the contents of the article at Xerxes are moved to Xerxes (disambiguation)
  3. Xerxes redirects to Xerxes I of Persia warrior4321 22:48, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose — Which one is "the" Xerxes depends on your area of interest. Working on an article last year that mentioned Xerxes I of Persia, I ended up fixing incoming links to Xerxes and as I recall most of them did not intend Xerxes I of Persia. Now I see a handful of new incoming links needing to be fixed, same deal. If the dab page is displaced, future unintentional links no longer will be easy to find and fix. --Una Smith (talk) 15:20, 30 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. I don't see evidence that there is a primary use. If in fact the information provided by Una Smithis correct, then it is clear that we are lacking a primary use. Also by leaving the dab page where it is, it makes dab cleanup easier for those who apply the tools. Moving a dab page from the primary name space needs clear and convincing evidence. That is not present here. Vegaswikian (talk) 23:38, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Xerxes the musician/remixer

edit

Is Xerxes the musician/remixer (Klaus Lunde) of sufficient importance to list here? It's the xerxes I was looking for, but that's just one person. 24.17.178.36 (talk) 00:18, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
