GA Review

edit
  • I can't say I've ever done a GA review, but here are my efforts to offer a review:
    • "Stars of Tears", one of the songs included on the soundtrack album, did not appear in the final version of the game. It was intended to play in a cut scene at the start of a playthrough with main staff credits; however, the scene was removed for pacing issues, despite Mitsuda's feeling, as it would have made the combined opening movie and introduction scenes last roughly ten minutes. - This whole paragraph needs work. I might use multiple shorter sentences rather than the two long sentences.

    • The paragraph I just mentioned about one song being cut from the final version of the game... it doesn't quite fit. I think there might be a better way to organize this information. I might try to organize the "context" section into roughly two paragraphs: before (with all the information about building the team and the vision) and after (with how the team felt about the music when it was done, and what they did with it). Nothing major. Just shuffling a few sentences.

    • "... a choral track and two songs." - what's the difference between a track and a song? I figure you mean a song with a band and vocals, but perhaps you can communicate this distinction more clearly.

    • as "what was an amazing soundtrack in its day [did not] stood the test of time very well". -- you kind of mangled the grammar when you added the brackets into the quote. Also, the quote feels jammed in. If you can't make it flow, just summarize: they didn't think it stood the test of time.

    • In the reception section you jump back and forth between several sites. It's a little confusing. Where you can do it without breaking up the flow, mention the sites by name. Or if it will help the flow leave them out completely and say "criticism ranged from good[ref] to bad[ref]". Use your judgment.

All in all I'd say I'm pretty impressed. I was wondering how much you could possibly write about a game soundtrack, but you managed to do it. It was interesting, it flowed well, and it was well-sourced. Fix some of those issues, and you have a GA for sure. In fact, I'd say you have a GA already -- but I'd rather get a second opinion as this is my first GA review. Randomran (talk) 02:02, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Good idea. I've done only one, and see the controversy. (Though it wasn't a good article when I promoted it...whoops...not that I meant to promote a bad article, just that I thought it was good until someone else came along. =]) Anyway, for help, you might try Template:GAList or Template:GAList2. the_ed17 02:09, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Second opinion: I think there's no reason why this shouldn't be passed as GA once the above issues are addressed. —Giggy 09:39, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the second opinion, Giggy. Just waiting on these changes, then. Randomran (talk) 22:16, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kariteh seems to be AWOL, so I'm going to try to address these concerns for him. --PresN (talk) 21:23, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
