Oppose On the grounds that one page is primarily a section that lists people that share the same given name, while the other discussed the etymology and variants of Javier. A short etymology before the list seems reasonable on Xavier (given name), so I'd recommend leaving the articles as they are. Klbrain (talk) 16:13, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Basque, not Arabic

Although I recently edited a mention of Arabic derivation for the name, I want to go on record that I don't believe it's Arabic at all; it's definitely Basque. While I do love to write about words and names derived from Arabic, Xavier isn't one of them. It's just that the cited source had been quoted wrongly. I'm not even sure it's worth keeping in, but I thought as long as it's going to be in the article it should be quoted accurately. Johanna-Hypatia (talk) 12:14, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

I'm all for accurate info, however I'm afraid that what we have here is just too much phantasy on the part of Miss Yonge. The Arabic etymology is simply wrong and it's misleading for the readers to include it in the page. --Jotamar (talk) 21:38, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
