Talk:XM501 Non-Line-of-Sight Launch System

How big is the whole package? Man-portable, vehicle-portable, ship-portable, fixed... Judging by the mention of the Littoral it's a naval missile system, but the article is somewhat unclear. -Toptomcat 18:26, 15 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The first test vehicle was roughly 5 ft long, IIRC. The wings are so thin and tiny you don't think it would have flown. The fuselage fit standard 5-inch launch mounts. Too heavy for man-portable, I think, but it could have easily been carried on a modest vehicle. Aurora Flight Sciences launched the first one from their O-2 (Cessna 337).96.255.244.145 (talk) 04:46, 18 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't we use their term here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hcobb (talkcontribs) 07:37, 24 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Some speculation that the NLOS-LS is next to be canceled: its not official yet, but has been reported by industry sources: http://www.dodbuzz.com/2010/04/23/nlos-ls-dies-just-cost-too-much/ as well as insidedefense.com, which is, unfortunately, a subscription site. Wasn't sure if I should include this info yet, since it doesn't seem to be official. Dpenn89 (talk) 03:38, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Look at the timeline for the past four days. Hcobb (talk) 03:45, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

No mention at all that the first bird was actually built and flown by Aurora Flight Sciences and Athena Technologies, at Wallops Island. Anybody have any official information on that? 96.255.244.145 (talk) 04:42, 18 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
