The Wyckoff-Garretson House was built in 1730 by Cornelius Wyckoff.

Cornelius Wyckoff was the son of Pieter Claesen Wyckoff. He moved to Franklin Township, Somerset County, New Jersey in the Middlebush section in 1701 when he and and seven other Dutch farmers bought a 10,000 acre (40 km²) lot. Cornelius' portion was 1,200 acres (5 km²) which he divided among his four sons: John Wyckoff, Jacob Wyckoff, Peter Wyckoff, and Simon Wyckoff. John was the first to move onto the land around 1709-1710. In 1730 he built the first half of what is the current house.[1]
The house was later enlarged by Samuel Garretson from Hillsborough, New Jersey in 1805. The house is currently maintained by the Meadows Foundation.
