Band meets WP:BAND

This band has been placed in regular rotation by RadioU, a national radio network that broadcasts from 2 parent stations in Ohio and California, and has repeaters all over the United States. I will edit the article to include this information. --Djc wi (talk) 19:25, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Once again, RadioU is not network, it's a local station that has repeaters and it broadcasts on the internet. While I like (and actually know of) this band, they don't meet WP:BAND either. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:37, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Local radio stations broadcast from 1 parent station. RadioU broadcasts from 2 (WUFM in Ohio, and KRQZ in California). Thus, RadioU is a network. If you look at the articles WUFM, KRQZ, and List of American radio networks, all of them say that RadioU is a network. --Djc wi (talk) 20:21, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

They're not a network in Wikipedia terms. The RadioU article was changed a few days ago to reflect that a few days ago. A network is like NBC where each station has its own control over content. They can pick-up additional shows and produce their own shows which are usually news-related. Repeaters simply broadcast what the station is broadcasting. RadioU falls into the latter category. Don't use Wikipedia as your source though. That list you pointed to is not accurate. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:50, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

KRQZ is not a repeater. It is the second parent station. Secondly, even on networks like NBC, if the the coverage time is a national slot, all NBC stations will be airing the same thing. For instance, during Sunday Night Football, all NBC stations will be airing coverage of Sunday Night Football. The difference between NBC and RadioU is that RadioU just never switches between local and national coverage. It is still a network, though. Thirdly, if there is an official Wikipedia definition for a radio network, please show me. --Djc wi (talk) 21:23, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Apparently the subject rides a fine line between being recognized as a local station and network. With that in mind, I would venture to say that the possibility of successfully defining the subject as a major network, according to the notability guidelines would be nil to none. Someone explained this on my talk page. DB:BAND, the speedy delete because it's not a notable band has different criteria than WP:Band. The article does not meet the former because they have one album (actually an EP) on a major label, however the latter requires two. The PROD stands until such time as the band release a second cull-length album, or other criteria can be found to help the band meet WP:BAND. This page was the subject of an AfD discussion and it was moved to a user page as a result. However, new information about the band's debut album making the charts allows the page to be restored to its status as an article. --Djc wi (talk) 05:13, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
