Summary edit

  • Jimmy Carter is linked to the US President and not the footballer
  • Same with Steve Watkin
  • "The forward's header was obstructed by a Wrexham player," - Who was that Wrexham player? Do we know?
  • Not exactly clear which player it was on the video highlights Lemonade51 (talk) 17:15, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Link pitch invasion

Aftermath and legacy edit

  • Link North Wales Police
  • "The replay was played on 4 February with a solitary Hammers' goal coming from defender Colin Foster," - Hammers' is informal

References edit

  • The YouTube links in References 17, 18, 19, 22 are dead.

Good read of an historic match. On hold. MWright96 (talk) 16:45, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • I see the point on the Wrexham player has not been rectified but It is difficult to identify but since it's hard to do so, it doesn't need serious action. Other than that, am happy to pass this. MWright96 (talk) 18:55, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Jimmy Carter is fixed, but Steve Watkin still links to the former Glamorgan and England cricketer Walshie79 (talk) 17:17, 15 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wrexham F.C. 2–1 Arsenal F.C.Wrexham A.F.C. 2–1 Arsenal F.C. – Per our article; Wrexham A.F.C., Wrexham use the initials "A.F.C." not "F.C.", and therefore the page should be renamed accordingly. Harrias talk 22:54, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Support move. This one should be uncontroversial.  ONR  (talk)  22:48, 26 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose It looks like Wrexham were called Wrexham F.C. at the time of the game. The article was only moved to Wrexham A.F.C. in 2016 when the club was renamed from F.C. to A.F.C.. @Old Naval Rooftops: You may want to reconsider? Number 57 19:14, 27 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
    • @Number 57: Take a look at this article: [1]. They were called Wrexham AFC until 2006, when they switched to FC, and then switched back again recently. So in 1992, they were Wrexham A.F.C. This is also mentioned in the article, Wrexham A.F.C.#2001–2010, seventh paragraph: "Wrexham Football Club (2006) Ltd is the name of the "phoenix" company that took over the assets of the old Wrexham Association Football Club Limited – technically, the club is no longer known as Wrexham Association Football Club due to the takeover of the club by Neville Dickens and Geoff Moss and their associates; this is reflected on new merchandise, although most fans will still refer to it as "Wrexham AFC"." • OK, switch to support. Cheers, Number 57 19:51, 27 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wrexham A.F.C. 2–1 Arsenal F.C.Wrexham 2–1 Arsenal (1992) – The A.F.C. and F.C. abbreviations appearing after each team in this article's title are effectively useless, as the team names provide enough disambiguation – Wrexham 2–1 Arsenal (1992). WP:CONCISE says that a title should "balance brevity with sufficient information to identify the topic to a person familiar with the general subject area"; the proposed title is more than enough information to satisfy this criteria, the abbreviations cloud and confuse the title when the proposed title is already clear to someone familiar to the sport. Additionally, the year in brackets is added to satisfy the general consensus w.r.t. titling of most notable association football match articles. In reference to: Liverpool 9–0 Crystal Palace (1989), Sutton United 2–1 Coventry City (1989), and Cat:FL matches. I recognise that the title formatting for notable football matches is dreadfully inconsistent (and I believe it should be reformed), but I'd like to think this is a 'tap-in'.
