name that pub

edit
The pub mentioned in the song was The Towneley Arms, almost opposite Rowlands Gill Railway station (where Mr Danskin, my pal's dad was Station Master) When I remember it in the 1950s it was a rather scruffy pub, once a row of cheap cottages. It was demolished in the 1960s and replaced by a 'posh' brick pub with a disco bar. This in turn was derelict by the mid 1990s - the site is now (2018) blocks of modern flats, and the railway is gone. Directly opposite, the little shop/cafe where we put 3d in the juke box to play Buddy Holly and the Everley Brothers is now a betting shop. Pictures of the Towneley Arms are at http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DUR/TowneleyArms [Roger Bean - now retired in Kidderminster]

The above passages were added last week by R.Bean47. I move them here as they violate WP:no original research; perhaps the assertion can be supported another way. —Tamfang (talk) 18:04, 27 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
