Pronunciation?

Could someone who knows please add the pronunciation of this city's name? In particular, is the "oo" pronounced as in "boot" or as in "foot" (like Worcester, Mass.)? --Macrakis 21:38, 11 May 2005 (UTC)

If you are not from Wooster it is pronounced Wooster as in "boot". But people from Wooster and southern ohio will argue it tooth and nail that it is pronounced WUH-ster. So, Wooster with a "foot".

Rubbermaid

I find it hard to believe there is no mention of Rubbermaid as once setting up its HQ in Wooster and then leaving. I'd like to add a section which covers the big companies that were or still are in Wooster. Comments?--Paul Laudanski 19:28, 21 July 2005 (UTC)

Industry of Education?

I think the part about "common folklore states" ... should be removed. If one looks at the census data, they will find that only 27.4% of Wooster's 25+ population holds a bachelor's degree. This is far below many similar and smaller sized college towns of Ohio. For example Kent has a percentage of 37.0 and Bowling Green has a percentage of 44.2. Athens has a percentage of 63.8 and Oberlin has a percentage of 41.2. For a college town, Wooster's percentage of holding bachelor's degrees is fairly small. Swancreek 17:00, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

2010 tornado

I think there should be some mention of the destruction from the tornado that touched down September of 2010. The arboretum was almost completely demolished and rebuilt. Does this article need a history section? Sandusky, Ohio and Barberton, Ohio, two Ohio cities of near equal population to Wooster have history sections.Lugevas (talk) 04:06, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Yes. It needs a history section and an education section at first glance. The best place to look for ideas for any city article is WP:USCITY, which is a general guideline for city articles. The Kent, Ohio article is a Featured Article of a similarly-sized city. Doesn't mean this one has to follow the Kent article or the guidelines exactly, but can be a good model for general article structure as well as scope and depth of information within the article. --JonRidinger (talk) 05:49, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

This photo has been endorsed by the Downtown Wooster Masterplan 2015 [1] as their cover photo. It's also the cover photo on their website. [2] Therefore I will be changing the Wooster photo to this one. If anyone reverts the edit and objects, please make your case here. Lugevas (talk) 20:15, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

I don't mind the photo (another editor reverted it...think it's a great photo). Just be sure it is your photo to upload. If another group is using it on their website, and it's your photo, make sure they give you proper attribution so that editors here don't think you simply copied it from their website and uploaded it here as that is a copyright violation and will result in the photo getting deleted. --JonRidinger (talk) 21:17, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
