School districts and their service areas

@SounderBruce: I saw the rationale for merger as "permastub that could easily be integrated into the parent article". This isn't usually the case with American school districts:

Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Common_outcomes#School_districts states: "Populated, legally-recognized places" include school districts, which conveys near-inherent notability to school districts per Wikipedia:Notability (geography)."
School districts in most states cover city and/or county boundaries, often cover more than the city they are "named after" and may include unincorporated areas miles away from the places that the districts are named after. School facilities may be outside of city limits.
They don't have to be permastubs as school districts have their own elected boards of education, and so there is political drama which often can be covered. Some districts may be run in an orderly way, but others like Wilmer Hutchins ISD not so much.

I'll check the Washington State Department of Education to see if they have school district maps that show the territorial extent of this district. WhisperToMe (talk) 21:00, 30 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

The U.S. Census Bureau in fact has maps of school districts. Woodland Public Schools is mostly in Cowlitz County, where it covers not only Woodland but also Cougar, Washington and various stretches of unincorporated rural areas. WP:SOFIXIT. An article like this could easily be properly incubated in another namespace before moving to mainspace. If you can find enough sources beyond basic statistics, then it's more likely to survive and thrive as an article. Sounder Bruce 07:23, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@SounderBruce: Added secondary sourcing. The reason why I started it in the mainspace in the first place was due to the common outcomes guidance on "Populated, legally-recognized places" which "which conveys near-inherent notability". Having said that I'm more than happy to show how such articles can develop: I found political turmoil in 2015 over multiple staff being fired from a particular school and protests resulting.
