Neutrality Disputed

edit

Added section on criticism of Blees research methodology and removed unrelated paragraph citing study by Patai which bears no relevance and does not mention WKKK Gamete 14:26, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

No sources or references are provided to support the criticism of Blee's research, this appears to be simply POV by Gamete to refute facts she does not like, or does not agree with her POV. Restored study by Patai - this study summarizes the essential point of the article, and Blee's study - the racist sexual inuendo of the KKK converged into the misandrous sexual inuendo of radical feminism. --User:loneranger4justice\loneranger4justice 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Again I must protest at inclusion of Patai link - there is no ref to WKKK in Patais work. Again loneranger4justice assumes Im a) female and b) have a feminist agenda. Both wrong. (see feminazi discussion page) As Ive said before he appears to be using Wikipedia as his personal mens rights agenda using techniques such as bold formatting on mens rights issues and moving mens rights links and references to the front on domestic violence (please see my notes on this on the domestic violence discussion page) and other pages (see any of his previous contributions) His inability to distinguish any opposing view as a genuinely neutral view, rather than a "feminist" one is a severe failing and prejudicial on his part. As Ive said on other discussions Ive no axe to grind with him but would rather see neutrality restored where its obviously been eroded. Gamete 13:10, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Gamete, please read wikipedia rules. no personal attacks, no POV to advance your agendas, and no more than 3 revisions per day, see 3 day rule. The Patai study directly illustrates the similarities between WKKK methodology and modern radical feminsim, as analyzed by Blee and others. Hundreds of websites and blogs can be easily searched for further analysis of the WKKK/feminist convergence. Use of lurid sexual imagry and profiling was a main focus of 'wispering women' of the KKK. It is obvios that Gamete wants to delete anything that does not conform to her own POV idealistic vision of feminism, which is not the intent of Wikipedia. --User:loneranger4justice\loneranger4justice 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Protestant Church?

edit

From the first para:

Their work was largely promulgated through networks in the Protestant Church, the Y.W.C.A., and a variety of "vice squad organizations".

There is no organization called the "Protestant Church" in the U.S.; there are rather many separate Protestant denominations. What exactly is meant here? Is there some specific church group that's being erroneously named? Or is it meant to say that the WKKK found support in various Protestant churches? --FOo 06:56, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Page in need of complete revision

edit

Wikipedia should immediately remove the content of this page and replace it with something closer to an actual history of the WKKK for interested researchers. the content is a dangerous mix of bias and inaccuracy regarding the movement itself and Blee's book. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 132.206.33.29 (talk) 01:41, 17 December 2006 (UTC).Reply

Cleanup

edit

I have removed several sections from this article, since they seemed to relate to the larger topic of gender relations and the Klan. This article is about the WKKK as an organization, not about gender relations, how the Klan viewed gender, or the larger scope of gender politics; only things that relate very directly to the actual WKKK organization should be included. I do not think that there is enough on this to cover an article. Is Bree's book even specifically about the WKKK, or about the larger relationship between the Klan and gender issues? The one quote that was included did not mention the WKKK at all (and hence, I have removed it.) Given the scarcity of useful information worth putting here, and the apparent lack of reliable secondary sources, I recommend redirecting to KKK auxiliaries. --Aquillion 08:26, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

More cleanup

edit

A lot of the information in this article was taken from unverifiable and biased sources. I'm removing dubious claims which have been unreferenced for quite some time, and am also adding more accurate membership figures, verifiable references and removing text which was copied directly from another website in violation of copyright. Moving book cover image to Kathleen M. Blee where it is more appropriate and to prevent undue weight from being given to her prespectives. These edits should take care of the neutrality and original research concerns. Regards, AlphaEta 22:13, 6 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

this says 1 million, but does not seem as reliable a source as the cite for 500,000.
