Papua province edit
I put the flag for the province of Papua in the popplace field of the infobox. If this is confusing, let me know. Perhaps the default name of the flag data should be changed from "Papua" to "Papua Province". Plandu (talk) 19:14, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Plandu. Thanks for pointing out. Really appreciate it.
One of the reasons I removed the flag on provinces/states is to have a uniformity/standardization throughout the rest of the Indonesian anthropology articles and also to some extend of the Malaysian, East Timor and Papua New Guinea articles. Some articles like Batak people contained a lot of provinces represented in the infobox. So to have the flags on all provinces, might seemed a little too crowded inside the infobox. Therefore I would usually limit the flags to countries only. Hopefully it would be easier for readers who are viewing it on other devices as well.
If you think it is to avoid confusion between the Indonesian province of Papua and Papua New Guinea (as you have mentioned in my Talk page that PNG is also sometimes referred to colloquially as Papua, hence the confusion), then the simple solution is to place the name of the province/state in brackets after the name of the country. Take for example the format in Bunak people (with population statistic) or Uma Baka' people (without population statistic) article.
Personally, I think there no need to change the name from "Papua" to "Papua Province". Based on the Provinces of Indonesia, provincial names that might cause confusion uses the "(province)" format after the name of the province. For example the Indonesian's Papua (province) and West Papua (province). If you're suggesting to change the name of the Papua province article, then you might want to consider to start a discussion at the Talk:Papua (province) (which I think is unnecessary to change imho).
If you're referring to the text name of the province in the Wolani people article itself, then I think it is a no issue at all to maintain the original article name itself ("Papua (province)") as the name of the province is already in a bracket after the name of the country (back to reason 2). So it should be well understood by the readers.

- I've browsed some articles of ethnic groups in America and I have not come across any of them that have significant population by states represented with flags in the infoboxes. Or maybe there are just some that I might not be aware of. If you look down the Wolani people article, there is an "Ethnic groups in Indonesia" template where you can see examples of articles where the infoboxes are pretty much standardized across all articles of people groups in Indonesia. Therefore I think it's best (at this moment at least) not to use the provincial flag for this article. What do you think? -Jeblat (talk) 16:35, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
