Representativeness

I do not know exactly which nations this flag (and its variations) represents, but surelly not the tribes from Brazilian Amazonia. Maybe the Bolivian part of it. Mainly because many of those tribes live isolated and probably have not ever seen this flag, and their cultural repertoire is different from the design of this flag. It must be noted that its design resembles very much the traditional weave of indigenous people from Andes. Tonyjeff 13:05, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

The Spanish version of this page seems to give a sound account of the history of the symbol that goes beyond its contemporary romantization by indigenous political movements. Anybody wants to translate?

What spectrum?

The concept that the raimbow has seven colors is european (physically it is a continuum). Even more, white IS NOT a spectral color. We should have to find out about the simbology of the colors. Daniel Omar Badagnani (talk) 22:48, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Capitalisation of "Wiphala"

Is Wiphala supposed to be capitalised? This article is inconsistent with the capitalisation of the word. This needs to be sorted out. CentreLeftRight ✉ 19:33, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Translation of Bernabé Cobo

The source text reads:

... iba puesta en el remate de una asta larga, tendida y tiesa, sin que ondease al aire ...

which was translated as

... that was carried at the top of a long flagpole, and was stiff, with no wave on the air ...

(I've made this translation a bit more idiomatic without changing the meaning, except for adding the missing translation of tendida "stretched".) But it seems to me that tendida y tiesa ("stretched and stiff") may be further describing the asta larga, not the banner. Hairy Dude (talk) 00:19, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
