Wiltshire College Campuses edit

  • Wiltshire College Chippenham is located on Cocklebury Road, close to Chippenham Train Station, Olympiad Leisure Centre and the town centre. [1]

The campus provides full time Further Education courses, University Level, Apprenticeships, Job Clubs and Part Time courses.

  • Wiltshire College Lackham is situated on over 1700 acres of woodland, garden and farmland in the Wiltshire Countryside, near the village of Lacock. [2]

Located 3 miles south of Chippenham, 10 minutes from the M4 motorway, and with transport links to Bath, Bristol, Salisbury and Swindon, the Lackham campus is home to industry relevant facilities in a range of subject areas. Known for its history in Landbased industries, vocational courses at Wiltshire College Lackham include Agriculture, Animal Care, Horticulture, Countryside Management and more. Also found at the Lackham campus are facilities for Motorsport Engineering courses and Public Services. As with the other campuses, courses are delivered at Further Education and University Level, as well as part time courses and leisure courses. The estate is also home to a 400 acre working farm where students gain experience in dairy and arable, as well as rearing cattle, pigs and sheep for meat. [3] Wiltshire College hold an annual Lambing Weekend each spring where local families can visit the campus, take tractor tours of the farm, see all of the domestic and exotic animals housed at Lackham and witness lambs being born first hand.

Wiltshire College Lackham, originally Lackham College opened on the site in 1946 as an agricultural college. Lackham House, a Georgian manor house on the campus, was built between 1793 and 1795 and now provides teaching rooms, conference and meeting facilities in its restored conference rooms. [4] Lackham House is also home to the employer division of Wiltshire College, Wiltshire Enterprise, which provides support to businesses in Apprenticeships, Vocational and Professional Qualifications, Short Courses and Military Resettlement Training.   • Wiltshire College Trowbridge, April 2013 saw the completion of a new reception area, Learning Resource Centre (Library) and HE study area at the Trowbridge Campus, following a government grant.

Further building work is currently under way for a Construction Skills Centre at the rear of the campus which will house plumbing, brickwork, painting and decorating and wood occupation workshops, as well as a gas assessment centre and training facility, and teaching rooms. [6]

In 2011, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) teaching facilities were developed on the Trowbridge campus. [7]

Courses delivered on the Trowbridge campus include vocational Further Education courses, University Level courses, Apprenticeships, Job Clubs and Part Time courses. Located on College Road, 20 minutes’ walk from Trowbridge Train Station and the town centre, the Trowbridge campus is also the lead revenue provider for The Arc Theatre, a professional theatre venue providing the area with dance, music, films, comedy and other theatre performances.   • Wiltshire College Salisbury was formed in 1992 as the merger of the College of Art & Design & the Technology College.[9]

Situated on Southampton Road, the Salisbury Campus provides Further Education vocational training as well as University Level courses including Photography and Film Production and Cinematography in association with Bournemouth University. Also delivered at the Salisbury campus are part time courses, resettlement qualifications, apprenticeships, and leisure courses. Most of the college’s international students study at the Salisbury campus, with some others choosing to study at Wiltshire College Lackham depending on their course, and accommodation is provided at both.   • The Chippenham and Trowbridge campuses offer a similar range of courses to various levels including NVQ, BTEC and C&G in a wide range of subjects: Administration, Art and Design, Beauty Therapy, Business, Catering, Childcare, Computing, Construction, Engineering & Motor Vehicle, Hairdressing, Health & Social Care, Media, Performing Arts, Public Services, Sport, and Travel & Tourism. Photography is offered as a BTEC course at Trowbridge only.[11]

Also offered at the Trowbridge and Chippenham campuses are a wide range of short and leisure learning courses in subjects such as Art and Design, Computing, Construction and Languages. [12]

  • Lackham Campus tends to specialise in its traditional curriculum, offering courses in Agriculture, Animal Care, Animal Management, Countryside & Environment, Countryside Management, Farm Mechanisation, Floristry, Horse Care/Management, Horticulture, Land & Environment, Land Based Technology, Motorsport Engineering and Sport. A pre-entry course for the Uniformed Services is also offered. [13]
  • Salisbury Campus offers Vocational courses leading to BTEC & C&G qualifications are offered in Art & Design, Beauty Therapy, Business, Catering & Hospitality, Working with Children & Young People, ICT, Construction (including specialisms in Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery, Electrotechnical Technology, Painting & Decorating and Plumbing), Hairdressing, Health & Social Care, Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Media, Music Technology, Performing Arts, Public Services, Skills for Work, Sport, and Travel & Tourism.   • University Level (H.E) Courses delivered at Higher Education Level include Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science, Business, Creative Digital Media, Computing, Counselling, Criminal Justice, Electrical Engineering, Equine Management, Early Years, Film Production and Cinematography, Health and Social Care, Mechanical Engineering, Motorsport Engineering, PGCE, Photography, Rural Environmental Management, Social Work and Sport.
