What is the clear reliable evidence that he was the 1st Earl of Albermarle. I cannot find any. David Lauder 13:23, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't know. The numbering is conventional, and he was an English Earl (from 1138) as well as Count of Aumale. Charles Matthews 15:57, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the reply. If he was the 1st Earl there must be a mention of it somewhere. But if even Cockayne couldn't find it, it must be suspect. David Lauder 17:48, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
