It was taken from one of the oldest magazines of Textile products. The Textile Mirror and Argus, which ceased to exist of the onslaught of competition over the years.

There's an obituary for Dr. W. Lawrence Balls, C.M.G., C.B.E., F.R.S. by D W Hill in Nature 187, 989 - 990 (1960), which would no doubt be a very helpful addition to the sources. Unfortunately, I can't get to it as it's a subscription service. --Malcolmxl5 11:25, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
