What is his connection to New York? edit
I came to the article because I wondered who was this person who had a major street in NYC named for him. I came away knowing that he was born, lived most of his life and died in Georgia, but was buried in NYC and had a street in NYC named for him. But it doesn't mention why he is buried there or why did the New Yorkers thought enough of him to name a street in his honor. --rogerd (talk) 22:39, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I found out that he married into the family that owned what is now Houston street. I added that and a reference to the article. I found on find a grave that he spent a lot of time in NYC later in his life, but I don't consider Find-A-Grave to be a reliable source. --rogerd (talk) 23:07, 13 October 2012 (UTC)

Is William related to John Houstoun? Both are from Georgia around the time of the Revolutionary War, and both articles list a father named Sir Patrick Houstoun. 108.113.136.116 (talk) 12:43, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
