This WIkipedia article is an almost-exact copy of copyrighted material from Kaufman, M. H. (2008, August). "William Gregory (1803-58): Professor of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh and enthusiast for phrenology and mesmerism". Journal of Medical Biography. 16: 128–133. {{cite journal}}: Check date values in: |year= (help) For this reason, I have deleted the copied material and replaced it with something much smaller.
