Public Domain Source
editMuch of this text, comprising the career section came from the book Monarch's of Minstrelsy which was published in 1911. Since the text is public domain, I adapted it for the article. I am crediting the original author Edward Le Roy Rice for writing the original text.Jacqke (talk) 18:49, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
Problem identifying middle name
editTwo different family members gave two different middle names for William A. Penno. On his death certificate, a niece gave the name William Albert Penno.[1] The year after he died, his ex-wife's cousin published a genealogy book, naming him William Augustus Penno.[2]Jacqke (talk) 19:07, 14 October 2020 (UTC)

Confusion with his father
editI removed a paragraph about military service during the Civil War from August 5 1862 to March 2, 1863, serving with the Fifth Regiment of Rhode Island Heavy Artillery. That was his father and is labeled on his father's gravestone.[1][2]
