Similarity to "The Thing"

Anyone else struck by the atmospheric similarity between this story and the 1951 science fiction film The Thing from Another World. There seems to be too much in common for it to be mere coincidence.

• People stuck inside during a snow storm
• Crashed alien vessel
• Someone is not human
• Paranoia amongst the cast

Does anyone know if this episode was inspired by the 1951 film or maybe by the novella that inspire the film Who Goes there?? Scott Free (talk) 17:31, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Is Earth being colonized?

This being Wikipedia, I feel as few assumptions as possible should be made - but I'm not sure if it's Earth that's being colonized by the aliens, or just this island? "So remote, so pleasant, so off the beaten path" - that doesn't seem to make sense for the only planet between two planets each of which seems to know the other is capable of interstellar travel, which both seem to know is inhabited by primitives?
