White Polish isn't the name of the category

Per this source cited in the article, "The current Scottish policy focus on ethnicity, for example, classifies people as 'white' (including 'white Scottish', 'white British','Irish' and 'Polish') or as...". The category name would appear to simply be "Polish", not "White Polish". Cordless Larry (talk) 07:56, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

I think you are right to point out that Macpherson's listing of categories in that source is not quite correct. Perhaps writing informally, she has also missed the "White" from "White Irish", and has used "White British" (the England and Wales category) rather than "White Other British" (the Scotland category). I have added to the source's quote where the Annexe section lists the categories in census format, and added two other sources for that sentence. Peipsi-Pihkva (talk) 12:06, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

Looking at the actual census form, the label is just "Polish", but it's a sub-category of White, so maybe that's where the confusion arises. I note that some sources such as this report it as "White: Polish", which is perhaps clearer. Cordless Larry (talk) 12:11, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

Cordless Larry, I wonder how non-white Polish people classify themselves/are classified? Or is the population of non-white Polish people so small that they aren't even considered? There are non-white people in Poland, such as Vietnamese Polish people and Black Polish people, but I'm not sure how they would be classified if they migrated to the UK/Scotland.
