Undersupported and misplaced controversy statement
editUntitled
editThis statement was in the "premise" section and dominated its content:
"Like the book, there is controversy resulting from poor or insufficient technical research. The poor technical research is further demonstrated in many of the promotional photos and in the trailer featuring the male characters carrying live baby-actors in front facing Baby Bjorn baby carriers, which is highly dangerous to babies’ spine, hip and mental health. The International Hip Dysplasia institute (www.hipdysplasia.org) warns against improper carrier use, as does Dr. Vanessa Harrington of Complete Health Chiropractic in Chatswood, New South Wales, also a member of the Chiropractic Association of Australia. In a public talk presented with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on 14 April 2012, Sydney Australia, Dr. Harrington presented information on the dangers of improper carrier usage and advised babies to "...Never be placed in a 'facing outward' position." Dr. Evelin Kirkilionis, Forschungsgruppe Verhaltensbiologie des Menschen (FVM), Freiburg/Germany states : “Infants in outward-facing orientations can’t turn away from surrounding stimuli. They can’t turn inward toward a parent’s body if it becomes overwhelming. In this position, a child cannot make eye contact with his or her parent to evaluate facial expressions, social cues, and so forth to make assessments of the situation . . . I am not a big supporter of the outward facing method of carrying a child.”(Babywearing Institute 2006)"
I removed this because of two objections. One is that it should be in a "controversy" or "reception" section, not in the "premise". Also, I felt the citations were insufficient. First of all, the assertion tiself that the film (and book) is controverial should be supported by a citation to an article or website stating that directly. Otherwise, it could be that only the one Wikipedia author finds it controversial. For example, have any columnists or activists publically complained about the film's use of baby carriers?
Granted there are citations against use of baby carriers, but any citations should be in the proper Wikipedia form, via templates making in-page links to references at the bottom. But even so, these citations about baby carriers in general should be made redundant by a citation to a document stating the film is regarded as controversial by its use of baby carriers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LlynCoch (talk • contribs) 14:15, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
Wasn't this filmed in Austin, TX?
