I live and work in NW Indiana, traveling to many towns and cities within its perceived area, and I cannot honestly say that I have heard the area being referred to as "The Region". Is this an archaic reference that has fallen out of use somewhat? Seeing as I do not live in Westville and do not have specific knowledge of how Westville residents describe their geographic location, I have kept the reference in the leading statement on an edit I made today, and have blue linked it appropriately to the NW Indiana article to add some clarity.Bennycat (talk) 17:34, 10 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The population numbers are not accurate. The town has maybe 2000+ people and the Westville correctional center (prison) has roughly 3000+ inmates. The eduction level, income, etc, of the actual town’s population is skewed when incorporating the numbers of incarcerated inmates from all over Indiana and out of state. The Town of Westville is unfairly represented when including and, not notating, the prison population. 206.51.96.189 (talk) 18:07, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I came to say this as well. Comparing the 2000 census data (2116 people, 96.27% white) and the 2010 data (5,853 people, 72.1% White, 76.9% male) in the article it is clear that the prison population was included with the latter.
