Fongoli edit

There really needs to be a section of specific content on "Savanna chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes verus)" and especially the Fongoli population. These are studied intensively as an important model of human evolution, attributed to their uniquely relevant habitat among the living species most closely related to humans.

In particular:

  • Females are well reported to make wooden spears and use these tools to hunt mammals (bush babies). [1]
  • Males adopt bipedal posture as frequently as once per hour. [2]
  • Their interaction with fire is documented as unusual. [3]
  • They occupy caves during the heat of the day. [4]

Unclear section edit

The DNA section reads:

"Western Chimpanzees are most genetically differentiated and homozygous subspecies of Common Chimpanzee."

Can someone who is both knowledgeable about Western chimpanzees and also familiar with the English language please fix this so that it actually means something and is expressed clearly? Thanks.2600:1700:E1C0:F340:D57E:EF9B:FC3E:8F87 (talk) 17:40, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Pictures edit

Change main picture to one of a higher quality. Maybe add more photos, as this page doesn't have a really clear photo showing the monkey. Brogos (talk) 12:58, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Firstly, chimpanzees are not monkeys, they are apes. Secondly, you are more than welcome to find appropriate free use images and upload them and then add them to the article. We can not Change main picture to one of a higher quality if we do not have one to change to. UtherSRG (talk) 15:39, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
