Fragmentation of topics into multiple articles edit

Every good highway article has the Big Three sections: Route description, History, Junction/Exit list. The RD for this highway is encompassed in the RD of the MassPike. The Exit list for this highway is in the Exit list of the MassPike. The history of this highway is part of the history of the MassPike. The lead of this article would not necessarily be duplicated in the lead of the MassPike article, and if that's the only difference, there's little need to split this out as a separate article at this time.

We already have a separate History of the Massachusetts Turnpike article that duplicates a lot of content from Massachusetts Turnpike. While it is currently going into greater detail, there's some editors of the opinion that it is overly detailed. Even if it isn't, the main MassPike article is not yet too long to require splitting per WP:SIZE, which is based on readable prose, not total wikicode size. If that article gets too long in the future, that's the time to discuss what and how to split things up. Imzadi 1979  01:40, 19 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
