Naming confusion edit

Is this station named Tinsley West or West Tinsley? Simply south (talk) 00:22, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The article was originally named Tinsley West, I think because naming was assumed to be similar to the nearby Ecclesfield West. The article was moved to West Tinsley as a result of discussion between Captain Scarlet and I (probably buried in the archives of one or both of our talk pages). It is marked as West Tinsley on a 1921 Ordnance Survey map, and in S. Batty's book Railway Centres: Sheffield. —Jeremy (talk) 00:33, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the information - looks like the template is wrong then. Keith D (talk) 10:08, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Butt (Butt, R.V.J., (1995) The Directory of Railway Stations Yeovil: Patrick Stephens) confirms the name as West Tinsley. However he gives the opening date as 30 May (as Tinsley Road) by the LD&ECR. The GCR (MS&LR?) also had a Tinsley which opened Mar 1869 and closed 29 October 1951. West Tinsley was also reopened by the LNER on 6 October 1946 but closed again on 17 March 1947. Brightside unction edit

Does anyone know when the line from Brightside Junction to Shepcote Lane junction was lifted ? Alternatively, would anyone know where I could get this info ? I think it was late 1990s, but I`m not sure. --JustinSmith (talk) 14:28, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Some more research at home has revealed that Brightside Junction was "plain lined" in 1999, but can anyone confirm when the line was actually, A taken out of use, and B Lifted ?--JustinSmith (talk) 13:34, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know but I will make some enquiries. Not promising anything. Interestingly the OS maps and Sheffield road atlases showed the line as still being there until very recently. Talltim (talk) 15:52, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
