– The dab page currently lists two main entries: the English village (West Auckland, County Durham) and the New Zealand major geographical area (West Auckland, New Zealand). The village is quite small and the major geographical area covers much of the western part of Auckland, a city with a regional population of 1.7 million. Unsurprisingly, the New Zealand major geographical area gets much higher page views than the village; about 2.5 times as high. - The village even though its not a separate settlement seems much more distinct and is also a parish and has 11 Wikipedia articles worldwide while the NZ one doesn't appear to be a well defined area never the less the NZ one does appear to be much more populated and has its own airport. - As the person who made the disambig page, I honestly don't know! Definitely learning more towards the NZ page being the main topic though. NZ West Auckland is magnitudes larger and most scholarly/press mentions of West Auckland refer to the part of Auckland, but the UK village has a much longer use of the name (especially in terms of their football team), and is a strictly defined location. I think this argument will get stronger over time. The use of "West Auckland" is historically strong but not as big for most of the existence of the internet, it was synonymous with the old Waitakere City (1989-2010). Over the past 12 years this has started to change back to how it was in the 80s, with many organisational references to "Waitakere" being replaced by "West Auckland". I also suspect pageviews for the NZ article will greatly increase in the next few years too, as the article itself is only new. --Prosperosity (talk) 22:32, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- West Auckland, New Zealand states that it is not a well defined region, so I am not convinced that it qualifies as primary topic. West Auckland, County Durham is also not very primary, I doubt that most readers would expect to find it at the top of a search results list.
