AV2 by Weigl is an imprint of Weigl Publishers Inc., an American educational publisher of printed and digital content for the school library market. Linda A. Weigl founded the company in 2000.[1][2] Headquartered in New York City, Weigl Publishers Inc. has established an international presence, publishing titles in English and in several foreign languages.[3][4] In 2010, the company launched its main imprint, AV2 by Weigl, as a way to pair digital technology with books in order to bridge the gap between print and digital.[5] Each AV2 by Weigl title comes with a code that unlocks enriched content that supplements and complement the printed book and includes weblinks, audio and video clips, activities, slide shows, key word activities, a quiz, and other digital features.[6][7] The catalog of AV2 by Weigl now counts more than 3,000 titles, with about 500 new titles being published every year.[8]
AV2 by Weigl publishes a variety of book collections. The AV2 non-fiction collection includes science, social studies, language arts, visual arts, sports, and high interest titles.[9] The Let’s Read collection is composed of non-fiction media-enhanced books for grades pre-K to grade 2, and children aged 5 to 7.[10] In 2016, AV2 by Weigl enriched its portfolio with its new EyeDiscover imprint, a fusion of text, audio, and video designed to help reluctant readers engage with reading.[11]
Fiction collections AV2 Fiction Readalong[12] and AV2 Audio Chapter Books[13] feature a digital readalong of the text, while AV2 Animated Storytime[14] includes an animated video of the printed story. AV2 Spanish[15] titles provide access to eBooks including both Spanish and English translations of the text. Similar to AV2 Spanish, AV2 Arabic books give access to Arabic/English eBooks.[16] In 2017, AV2 by Weigl launched a new subscription program called World Languages. The program was developed to help early readers with other languages, and support diversity and multiculturalism. The digital subscription features offered by AV2 by Weigl pairs content for K–2 students with captivating full screen images. A toggle bar allows students to switch between eight different languages: English, Arabic, French, German, Hindi, Mandarin, Russian, and Spanish.[17]
All titles in AV2 by Weigl collections are tested for ATOS, Fountas and Pinnell, and Lexile leveling.[18]
