Weather predictions (Irish role) edit
As stated on The Emergency page, covering the role of officially neutral Ireland, “The decision to go ahead with the D-day landings being decided on, in part, by a weather report from Blacksod Bay, County Mayo.[1] Was this covered at all in this article now or previously? I searched and may have missed it and don’t want to add material that’s been excluded for good reason. OgamD218 (talk) 08:44, 5 October 2021 (UTC)
- @OgamD218: I have started to expand out a bit on this based on the recent acknowledgement of the role of Maureen Flavin Sweeney, but no doubt there is a lot more that can be said about it. As the say, the report was instrumental in the delay of the landings, avoiding the incoming storm, and thus ensured the success of the operation. I'd imagine that Met Éireann have written about this elsewhere too. Smirkybec (talk) 12:36, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
