Dubious premise

edit

I think there is a problem with the premise of this article. Here is the lede sentence: The We the People Party is a political third party in the United States founded in January 2024 by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to help obtain ballot access for his 2024 presidential campaign. State affiliates have been formed ...}

  1. Is there a "We the People Party"? State "affiliates" are affiliated with what? I haven't found evidence for any such thing.
  2. "We the People Party" name has been used by numerous candidates. Searching Ballotpedia for "We the People Party" gets 40-odd results, most of which seem not related to RFK Jr.[1] Here are the official results for the NJ Governor election in 2017, note Vincent Ross who received about 5000 votes.[2]
  3. Consistent with people using the name for ballot purposes with little actual party involved, let me introduce you to Shelby Pikachu Billionaire.[3] Mr. Billionaire is the WtPP candidate for U.S. Senate in Hawaii. He is mentioned nowhere on the Hawaii WtPP web site.

I doubt there is reified thing to attach the name "We the People Party". My guess is it would be more accurate to simply delete this article. It seems to me that WtPP is a name sometimes used by candidates as a party designation or when a temporary political party is needed. But absent any reliable sources describing this phenomenon, I don't see how we can have an article. -- M.boli (talk) 14:21, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I've updated the article to what the references say: We the People is the name used by assorted state political parties created by RFK Jr. to get on state ballots. Also added a section illustrating other candidates who have used the same party label in recent history. -- M.boli (talk) 17:44, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
